Educational Qualification
Candidate must have passed Matriculation Examination with minimum 50% marks in aggregate from the Boards of School Education recognised by Ministry of Education, Govt. of India.
Age Limit
Candidate should be born between 01 Sep 2004 - 29 Feb 2008 (both dates inclusive).
Marital Status
Only unmarried male and unmarried female candidates are eligible.
Candidates must provide a certificate of being 'unmarried' at the time of enrolment.
Agniveers cannot marry during their four-year tenure.
Dismissal from service will occur if marriage happens during the tenure or if already married despite providing an unmarried certificate.
Musical Ability
Proficiency and aptitude for music with accuracy in tempo and pitch.
Ability to sing one complete song.
Practical skill on any instrument of Indian or foreign origin.
Proficiency in tuning instruments.
Matching unknown notes with instruments.
Prepared piece, sight reading of Indian Classical/ Tabulature/ Staff Notation.
Performance of Scale/ Raaga/ Taala.
Basic theory of Indian or International music.
Type of Instruments on which Proficiency Required
Keyboard/ String/ Wind instruments or any other instrument of Indian or foreign origin.
Candidates performing on indefinite pitch instruments are not eligible.
Musical Experience Certificate
Hindustani or Carnatic Classical music on wind instruments: Certificate from a recognized musical institute.
Western notation or western music on wind instruments: Certificate of minimum initial grade from international boards such as Trinity College of Music, London, or Royal School of Music London etc.
Other candidates: Certificates of participation/awards presented at various events.
Duration of Service
Four years under the Navy Act 1957.
Agniveer would form a distinct rank, different from any other existing rank and would be the junior most rank in the Indian Navy.
Leave
30 days leave per year.
Sick leave based on medical advice.
Pay, Allowances and Allied Benefits
₹30,000 per month with a fixed yearly increment.
Risk and hardship, dress, and travel allowances will be paid.

Life Insurance Cover
Non-contributory Life Insurance Cover of Rs. 48 lakh for the duration of their engagement period.
Death Compensation
In addition to insurance cover of Rs. 48 Lakh, one time ex-gratia of Rs. 44 Lakh for death attributable to service, will be provided to the NOK.
Disability Compensation
One time ex-gratia of Rs. 44/25/ 15 Lakh based on % of disability (100%/75%/ 50%) shall be applicable to Agniveers.
Enrolment as Sailors (Regular Cadre)
Opportunity to apply for permanent enrolment in the Indian Navy after four years.
Up to 25% of each specific batch of Agniveers will be enrolled in Indian Navy.
Selection is at the discretion of the Indian Navy.
Medical & CSD Facilities
Agniveers will be entitled for medical facilities at Service hospitals as well as CSD facilities for the duration of their engagement period.
Selection Criteria
Based on the order of merit in the Music Ability Test.
Shortlisting
Based on marks obtained in the matriculation examination.
Candidates holding valid music certificates will be considered for shortlisting.
Candidates who are awarded grades in the matriculation certificate are to convert them into marks as per the conversion formula approved by the respective board.
Recruitment Process
Physical Fitness Test (PFT).
Music Ability Test.
Recruitment Medical Examination.
Centre Allocation for Recruitment Process will be at the discretion of the Indian Navy.
