Educational Qualification and Eligibility for Career
Candidates must fulfill the following minimum education and cultural qualifications to apply for these positions:
For Non-Technical Posts: Passed 12th (+2 stage) or its equivalent examination with not less than 50% marks in the aggregate. Marks criteria is not required for SC/ST/Ex-servicemen/Persons with Disabilities.
For Technical Posts: Matriculation plus Course Completed Act Apprentice approved by NCVT/SCVT or Matriculation plus ITI approved by NCVT/SCVT.
Cultural Qualification: Possession of a Degree, Diploma, or Certificate in the relevant stream of cultural talent (Saxophone or Western Classical Piano) from a Government recognized institute.
Desirable: Experience in the field and performance on AIR/Doordarshan or winning awards at the National level.
Age Limit for Recruitment 2026
The age limit for candidates as of 01.07.2026 is as follows:
Unreserved (UR): 18 to 30 years
OBC: 18 to 33 years
SC/ST: 18 to 35 years
Age Relaxation:
Serving Railway Employees: Up to 40 years for UR, 43 for OBC, and 45 for SC/ST.
Widows/Divorced Women: Up to 35 years for UR, 38 for OBC, and 40 for SC/ST.
PwBD Candidates: Relaxation of 10 years in their respective categories.

Selection Process for Career
The recruitment process consists of a two-stage evaluation:
Stage-I (Written Test): An objective type written test consisting of 50 marks. There is a negative marking of 1/3rd for every wrong answer.
Stage-II (Practical Demonstration): Assessment of talent in the relevant field (35 marks) and evaluation of Testimonials/Prizes (15 marks).
Medical Examination: Selected candidates must pass the prescribed medical category examination by Railway Medical Authorities.
