Selection Process: SAIL Recruitment 2025 Stages
The selection process for Management Trainees (Technical) involves an Online Examination, Group Discussion (GD), and Interview.
Online Examination (Computer Based Test - CBT):
The CBT will be for 200 marks and consist of two parts:
Domain Knowledge Test: 100 marks, 40 minutes duration.
Aptitude Test: 100 marks, 80 minutes duration. This part will have four segments: Quantitative Aptitude, English Language, Reasoning, and General Awareness, each carrying 25 marks.
Qualifying Criteria: To be eligible for GD and Interview, candidates must qualify in each part (Domain Knowledge Test and Aptitude Test) by scoring a minimum 50 percentile for UR/EWS posts and 40 percentile for SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/PwBD in their respective categories.
Group Discussion (GD) and Interview:
Candidates who qualify in the Online Examination will be shortlisted for GD and Interview in a ratio of 1:3 for each discipline and category, based on merit.
Call letters for GD/Interview will be uploaded on the SAIL website and candidates will be intimated via email.
Final Selection:
A merit list will be prepared by combining the scores of the Online Examination, GD, and Interview with a weightage of 75:10:15, respectively.
In case of a tie in the final merit list, the candidate with higher marks in the Online Examination will be given preference. If the tie persists, the candidate with higher marks in the relevant eligibility qualification (B.E./B.Tech.) will be selected.
Biometric Verification:
SAIL will capture photo/thumb impressions during the Online Test, GD/Interview stage, and at the time of joining for biometric verification. Inconsistencies may lead to rejection of candidature.
Training and Probation: SAIL Career Development
Selected candidates will undergo one year of training as Management Trainees (Technical). During this period, they will be registered as Apprentices under the provisions of the Apprentices Act, 1961. Upon successful completion of the training, candidates will be placed under probation for an additional year.
Emoluments: SAIL Jobs Compensation
During Training: Management Trainees (Technical) will receive a Basic Pay of ₹ 50,000/- per month in the pay scale of ₹50000-160000/-.
After Successful Training: Candidates will be designated as Assistant Manager in E1 grade and placed in the pay scale of ₹ 60000-180000/-.
In addition to Basic Pay, employees will be entitled to Dearness Allowance, perquisites under a cafeteria approach, and benefits such as Provident Fund, Gratuity, and other allowances as per Company rules. Other benefits include Leave encashment, Housing/HRA, and free medical facilities for self and dependents. The Cost to Company (CTC) for an E1 grade employee will be approximately Rs. 16-17 Lakhs per annum (excluding PRP, location-based allowances etc.).
Medical Standards: SAIL Recruitment Health Criteria
Candidates must be of sound physique and free from any physical defects. The minimum medical standards stipulate:
Weight: Minimum 45 kg
Height: Minimum 155 cm
Vision: Myopia and Hypermetropia, if any, should not exceed ± 4.00 in each eye. No squint or color blindness (partial or full) is allowed.
Female Candidates: Suitable relaxation in height and weight will be provided for female candidates.
