Age Limit for UPSC Recruitment 2026

UPSC sets specific age caps based on the seniority of the position. Relaxations apply for reserved categories.

  • Assistant Professor (Medical): 40 years for UR/EWS, 43 for OBC, 45 for SC.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

Medical Posts: You need a recognized MBBS degree. Additionally, a Post-Graduate degree (MD/MS/DNB) in the specific specialty is required. Most roles demand at least three years of teaching or clinical experience after obtaining your PG.

Assistant Public Prosecutor: A Degree in Law from a recognized University is mandatory. You must also have three years of experience at the bar.

Assistant Editor: Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or Mass Communication. Alternatively, a degree with Economics, Statistics, or English plus a journalism diploma works. Three years of editing and publishing experience is required.

Law Officer (Ladakh): A Bachelor’s degree in Law is the base requirement. You must have at least two years of actual practice at the bar, certified by a District Judge or High Court Registrar.
